Objective:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Recite the poem with correct rhythm and actions.
Understand the meaning of the poem.
Identify rhyming words.
Enjoy and appreciate poetry.
Materials Needed:
Chart paper with the poem .
Flashcards of keywords (teapot, handle, spout, tip)
Audio to play the rhyme
Introduction (5 minutes):
Show a teapot or its picture.
Ask: "Who knows what this is?"
Quick discussion: "What do we use a teapot for?"
Tell them: "Today we are going to learn a fun poem about a little teapot!
Presentation (10 minutes):
Read the poem aloud once.
Then read it again, slowly, with actions:
Handle: hand on hip
Spout: other arm bent out like a spout
Tip me over: lean to the side
Encourage students to follow along with actions.
Poem Text:
"I'm a little teapot, short and stout,
Here is my handle and here is my spout.
When I get all steamed up, hear me shout,
Tip me over and pour me out!"
Activity (10 minutes):
Choral recitation: whole class says the poem together with actions.
Identify Rhyming Words:
stout / spout / shout / out
Write them on the board.
Conclusion (5 minutes):
Quick recap:
"What is the poem about?"
"Can you name the rhyming words?"
Homework:
Draw and color a teapot.
Write one sentence about it: "My teapot is ____."
