Define a noun.
Identify nouns in sentences.
Differentiate between types of nouns (person, place, animal, thing).
Materials Needed:
Flashcards with pictures (person, place, animal, thing)
Worksheet for practice
Chart with examples of nouns
Introduction (5 minutes):
Start by asking students: "Can you name your best friend?", "Where do you live?", "What is your favorite animal?"
Write their answers on the board.
Explain: All these are nouns! Nouns are names of people, places, animals, or things.
Presentation (10 minutes):
Define Noun: A noun is a naming word.
Give examples under 4 headings:
Person – Sir, tailor, boy, girl
Place – Unnao, kanpur, school, park
Animal – elephant,cow, buffalo,dog
Thing – ball, pencil, book, chair
Show flashcards and ask the class to say what they see and which category it belongs to.
Activity (10 minutes):
Game: "Noun Hunt"
Write a short paragraph on the board.
Ask students to come and underline the nouns.
(Example: The dog chased the cat to the park.)
Practice (10 minutes):
Hand out a worksheet where students have to:
Circle the nouns in sentences.
Categorize nouns into person/place/animal/thing.
Homework:
Write 5 nouns from your home and 5 from your rainbow english book.
