Poem: Learning Together
Class: 6
Time Duration: 40 Minutes
I. General Objectives
To enable students to read, recite, and enjoy the English poem.
To develop students' vocabulary and understanding of the English language.
To encourage the spirit of teamwork and collective learning in the classroom.
II. Specific Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to recite the poem with correct rhythm and intonation.
Students will understand and use new words like Beam, Progress, Yard, and Facts.
Students will be able to identify and create pairs of rhyming words.
III. Teaching Aids (TLM)
Textbook: English Reader-I.
Blackboard: For meanings and exercises.
Flashcards: Containing rhyming words and math facts mentioned in the poem.
Visual Aids: A chart showing students working together in a classroom.
IV. Teaching Procedure (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Introduction & Warm-up (05 Minutes)
Teacher Activity: Greet the class and ask brainstorming questions.
"How do you feel when you come to school?"
"Who is your best friend in class?"
"Do you like learning new things every day?"
Student Activity: Students share their feelings about school and friends.
Step 2: Presentation & Model Reading (10 Minutes)
Model Reading: The teacher recites the poem aloud with appropriate gestures, pauses, and tone.
Silent Reading: Students are asked to read the poem silently and underline the words they find difficult to pronounce.
Pronunciation Drill: Teacher picks difficult words (e.g., Geography, Eight-one, Progress) and practices them with the class.
Step 3: Detailed Explanation (15 Minutes)
The teacher explains the poem stanza by stanza:
Stanza 1: Explains that Grade 6 is a milestone. The "big smile" represents the happiness of achievement and hard work.
Stanza 2: Discusses the joy of learning subjects like Math. Focuses on the line "Practice again and again" to emphasize consistency.
Stanza 3: Covers the variety of school life—games, songs, and reading. Mentions the vastness of knowledge (History, Geography, Science).
Stanza 4: Focuses on the transition. Students are proud of their progress and are preparing for Grade 7.
Step 4: Interactive Blackboard Work (05 Minutes)
Vocabulary Building:
Beam: To smile broadly.
Yard: An outdoor area for playing.
Facts: True information.
Progress: Forward movement or improvement.
Rhyming Words Activity: Teacher writes one word, and students provide the rhyming partner:
